Task2 - Gender >> Gender Equality

"Gender Equality"

"A woman's place is in the kitchen."

Do you agree?

In recent times, the roles of women have been changing. Women, in many countries, are working and studying as well as taking care of families. This change has presented a controversial issue for many societies. While some people believe that a woman's place is in the kitchen, others contend that women should be given the same opportunities as men.

Opponents of equality for women say that women should be restricted to household duties. They think that a woman's primary purpose is to cook, clean and nurture the family. However, these people do not recognize the talents and abilities of our female population. For example, women are outstanding teachers and nurses, often performing better than men in these occupations.

Those that support independence for women understand that women are often just as capable as men. They believe that a woman can do almost any job that a man can do. For example, many defence forces around the world are organizations with such beliefs. They allow women to undertake careers as soldiers and sailors. Women have excelled in these positions and have proven themselves to be valuable members of army, air force and navy.

In my opinion, it is cruel and unfair to keep a woman confined to household duties. We should encourage everyone in our societies to develop to their full potentials, regardless of their gender. If we allow women to reach for their goals, they will contribute greatly to the social and economic development of our communities.
